How to contribute

You can help make difficult rules easier to understand while keeping the published rules clear and reliable.

1. Create a contributor account

Sign up for a free account. New accounts begin as general contributors and can submit annotations or keep private notes.

2. Submit an annotation

Find the relevant rule, open Edit, and select Annotation. Contributor submissions enter an approval queue. An admin reviews each edit before it becomes public.

What makes a useful annotation?

  • Call attention to a difficult decision, edge case, or interaction.
  • Explain a practical complication that readers may otherwise miss.
  • Keep the annotation tied closely to the published rule.
  • Explain the philosophy behind a ruling to make understanding it easier.
  • Avoid suggesting house rules, deviations, or alternative rulings that could muddy the official guidance.

3. Keep personal notes

Open Edit and select Personal note to save your own thoughts alongside a rule. Personal notes are private to your account and are never submitted for approval or shown to other users.

Personal notes have a different background from public annotations. You can show or hide them with the personal-notes selector in the header.

4. Bookmark rules

Select the ☆ button beside a rule to bookmark it. You can add a short private note to help you search for and recognize it later on your bookmarks page.

Contributors whose annotation submissions are accepted are recognized on the attribution page.
